There is a right way and a wrong way to pick a profitable niche in the Clickbank marketplace. This section will show you the right way.

Clickbank Marketplace is huge with over 30,000 products across many different categories:

  • Business to Business
  • Health and Fitness
  • Home and Family
  • Computing and Internet
  • Money and Employment
  • Marketing and Ads
  • Fun and Entertainment
  • Sports and Recreation
  • Society and Culture

The last thing you want to do is to go to Clickbank and pick the #1 product in each category. Most likely, the reason it is #1 is because the product was just launched, all the affililiates got on the bandwagon, and there were a lot of initial sales. If the product was just launched and is in the top 5, then it is best to do some research on the reviews. If the reviews are negative, then there will be a lot of refunds…and that means a waste of time and money in your marketing efforts. It is best to wait a month to see if the product is sustainable. Here are the simple steps to pick a profitable niche to promote:

1. Research To See What People Are Buying and Wanting -

Head over to Yahoo! Answers and see what people are looking for. Go to eBay and see what people are buying. Look at Google Trends to see what people are interested in, and Google Insights to see what people are searching for. After some preliminary research, join a couple forums in niche your looking at. Simply type in “(niche) forums” to get a listing of forums to join. Ask questions, and find out what people are asking for and what people want. You’ll also need to do some good keyword research to see how many searches per month your niche is getting. I give a step-by-step case study on the exact steps that I use in my Clickbank Fortunes Course.

2. Research Different Clickbank Products To See What People Are Buying In Your Niche -

Now it is time to head over to the Clickbank Marketplace to see what products are available. Look for a good product in your category niche, and with a “gravity” score that is above 75. Check out the salespage. Is in convincing? Get the vendor ID by clicking on “Create Hoplink.” Next, visit Clickbank Trends and Clickbank Analytics to see if the product is still selling well, or if the product is on the down swing. One more thing, make sure the product has good affiliate resources, preferably emails, keywords, banners, videos, etc…. Some product vendors even have squeeze pages you can download and use.

You will also want to type in the product name, or keywords, in a google search to see what the competition is. If you see a lot of ppc ads, that means that people are making money in the niche. At the same time, you don’t want something too competitive, otherwise it is too hard to get good ranking and the ppc costs will be high. Use Spy Fu to spy on your competition.

3. Test Your Niche Product Using PPC Ads or Free Traffic Sources -

I’m not going to get into here how to set up a Adwords Campaign or how to generate Free Traffic, but what is important it “testing.” If there are other people making money in the niche and ppc ads, that is a good indicator.

Generally, weight loss, relationships, golfing, fitness, PSP downloads, learning spanish or french, and something lilke “reverse phone detective” have been great niches.
